Over the last couple of years the company specialised itself in producing handmade drums. The workshop as well as the company is run by father & son. Working as a carpenter with a master craftsman diploma and trained wood turner, Rick brings a wide range of knowledge to the production and has a detailed understanding of different woods. From the beginning till the end every piece of wood is self cut, dried, processed, arranged and put together. The wood selection is 100% eco friendly and comes from local resources. Within the range of entire Luxembourg the company chooses trees that fell due to extreme weather conditions or have to be cut down due to an utterly necessity of preserving a healthy ecosystem.

On the other side of the production Erik is mainly responsible for checking the final stage of the handmade snare drums. He creates and puts together the variables of different features and does the tuning and testing to keep a constant quality before putting the drums out for sale. Erik works as a professional live and studio drummer and has a clear sound vision of what the instrument should sound like.

Together they form a strong unity and are able to put a unique instrument on the market that is not only sounding great but that is also part of the “Green” movement: “Think local and act local.”

All the drums that are build by SDC are ‘stave drums’.

 

Since the beginning of 2021 StoneDrumCompany drums have the “Made in LU” label.
